Plumbed In Water Coolers FAQs

A plumbed in water cooler connects directly to your building’s mains water supply and filters water on demand, eliminating the need for bottled deliveries. It provides a continuous supply of chilled (and sometimes hot) filtered water with minimal effort.  Big Blue use high quality 1 micron KDF/GAC filters that are bacteriostatic to ensure your water is clean and hygienic.

Yes, plumbed in water coolers are generally more cost-effective for workplaces with high water consumption. There are no ongoing bottle deliveries or lifting, just a fixed monthly fee covering installation, servicing, filter changes, and maintenance.  There just needs to be an easy to access potable water source onsite.

Big Blue’s plumbed in water coolers use a 1 micron KDF/GAC filter, which removes impurities, tastes, odours, and bacteria, delivering great-tasting and safe drinking water suitable for the NZ environment.

Installation is straightforward and usually takes 30 minutes to an hour by a registered plumber that Big Blue organises. You’ll need a power point within 2 metres of the cooler and a water source within 5 metres.  For the majority of installs, Big Blue covers all installation costs; for complex installs, Big Blue will provide a quote; however, the need for this is rare.

Servicing, including filter changes and sanitisation to the 25-step Envirosafe standard, is included in Big Blue’s monthly rental fee. Callouts are free under their “fix or replace” policy, and support is available nationwide for peace of mind.

Yes, most plumbed in water coolers offer both hot and cold, or cold and ambient temperature options. The “Hot” on a standard water cooler provides water at 90°C. Safety features such as childproof hot water taps are typically included.

If your location lacks an easy water connection, Big Blue can advise on other options, such as bottled water coolers or fill-your-own systems, meaning you can still keep your team hydrated.

Plumbed in water coolers are ideal for New Zealand businesses with medium-to-high staff or visitor numbers—such as offices, gyms, schools, and factories—seeking a sustainable, hassle-free hydration solution without the clutter of bottles.
